I’ve been a fan of Grant Petersen and his Rivendell Bicycle Works since about 2008 or so. Not because of the bikes, I didn’t own one until 2020, but because of their perspectives and willingness to share them.
I’ve written and re-written an intro to Grant for the last 30 minutes. I’m gonna let go of that. You can find his old Rivendell Readers here, an archive and journey through the trials, tribulations and state of the bicycle for over 20 years.
RBW is a small business that has a big impact for many. They do a lot of interesting things from a business perspective. They’ve survived for 30 years and are poised to keep doing well by not always taking advantage of “opportunities” for growth. They don’t do sales. They have relied on the community they’ve built and they help communities how they see fit.
